Onur Zahal was born in Hatay in 1985. He completed Primary School, Derme Primary School; secondary and high school at Malatya Anatolian High School. Zahal, who graduated from İnönü University Music Teaching Program in 2007, started working as a music teacher at Malatya Yazıhan High School within the Ministry of Education. In 2010, he completed his master's degree at the same university, under the consultancy of Assoc. Prof. Dr. Server Acim. In the same year, he started working as a research assistant at Gaziosmanpaşa University, Department of Music Education. In 2014, at İnönü University, Department of Music Education, Prof. Dr. Under the supervision of Turan Sağer, he completed his thesis titled "The relationship between learning styles and cognitive flexibility levels of candidates taking the special talent exam" and received his doctorate. He served as a faculty member at Gaziosmanpaşa University and İnönü University, respectively. In 2017, he was successful in ÜAK's written and oral exams and became an associate professor in the field of "Music Education". In 2023, he was appointed as a Professor at İnönü University, Department of Music Education. He currently continues to work in the same program.
He served as editor and assistant editor in faculty and institute journals. There are many doctoral and master's thesis advisories. He constantly works as a performer in concerts. Zahal, who speaks English fluently, continues his studies mainly in the fields of instrument training, distance music education and historical musicology.
