Dr İpek Gülsün is a Lecturer (Öğr. Gör. Dr.) in the Division of Education of Individuals with Intellectual Disabilities, Department of Special Education, Faculty of Education, İnönü University.

She received her bachelor's degree in Special Education from Gazi University (2015–2019) and her master's degree in the same field from Anadolu University (2019–2021). She pursued her doctoral studies in Finland with the prestigious scholarship awarded by the Turkish Ministry of National Education under Law No. 1416. She completed her PhD (2022–2026) in the Department of Special Education at the University of Jyväskylä, which is renowned for its long tradition in teacher education and was ranked among the world's top 40 in education in the year she was admitted. During her doctoral studies she also worked at the same university as a Doctoral Researcher. Her doctoral research focused on inclusive education within the Finnish education system, which is widely recognised as a model for inclusive education worldwide.

Her research interests centre on special education, inclusive education, and societal perspectives towards persons with disabilities. Her work draws on a range of research designs and advanced statistical methods, and she conducts research for international journals in special education and educational research. In June 2024, she delivered an invited lecture on advanced statistics and inclusive education at the Department of Education, University of Oxford, United Kingdom.
