Hacer Ayaz was born in Ankara in 1989. She completed her primary education at Özel Çağrı Schools and graduated from Tevfik İleri Anatolian Imam Hatip High School in 2007. She received her undergraduate degree from the Faculty of Theology at Dokuz Eylül University (İzmir) in 2011. The same year, she was awarded a scholarship by the Ministry of National Education (YLSY) for overseas graduate education. She was admitted to the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS), University of London, where she earned her MA degree in 2014 with a dissertation titled “Woman in the Qur’an.”
During her time at SOAS, she also conducted academic work in the fields of women's studies, gender studies, and modern approaches to Islam.
In 2015, she was appointed as a research assistant at the Faculty of Theology, Erzincan University. She began her doctoral studies in 2016 and completed her PhD in 2022 with a dissertation entitled “Being a Muslim Woman in the Ideal of Gender Equality: The Problem of Alienation of Islamic Feminist Women from Religious Tradition.” Following her doctorate, she was appointed as an assistant professor in the Department of Sociology of Religion at the same faculty. Since 2023, she has been serving as a faculty member at İnönü University, Faculty of Theology.
