Özet

ÖZET Bu çalışmanın amacı Liselere Giriş Sınavı (LGS)’na ve Yükseköğretim Kurumları Sınavı (YKS)’na hazırlık sürecinde öğrencilerin özel ders alma gereksinimin nelerden kaynaklandığını, özel ders alan öğrencilerin hazırlık sürecinde sınav başarısına katkısı ve sınav motivasyonunu nasıl etkilediğini araştırmaktır. Çalışmanın yöntemi temel nitel araştırma desenidir. Çalışma 2022-2023 eğitim öğretim yılının ikinci döneminde sınava hazırlanan 17 öğrenci ile gerçekleştirilmiştir. Araştırmanın çalışma grubu maksimum çeşitlilik örnekleme yoluyla belirlenmiştir. Bu kapsamda LGS’ye hazırlanan 8 öğrenci ve YKS’ye hazırlanan 9 öğrenci ile mülakat yapılmıştır. Çalışmada veri toplama aracı olarak öğrencilerin özel derse ilişkin düşüncelerini ortaya koymak için yarı yapılandırılmış görüşme formu kullanılmıştır. Elde edilen verilere betimsel analiz uygulanacaktır. Araştırma sonucunda elde edilen bulgular ışığında öğrencilerin özel ders alma amaçlarının temel nedeni sınavlara hazırlık sürecinde konu eksikliklerinin kapatılması ve okulların yetersiz kalmasından kaynaklanmasıdır.

ABSTRACT The aim of this study is to investigate the reasons behind the need for private tutoring during the preparation process for the High School Entrance Exam (LGS) and the Higher Education Institutions Exam (YKS). Additionally, the study aims to explore the contributions of private tutoring to the exam success and how it affects the motivation of students during the preparation process. The research adopts a basic qualitative research design and was conducted with 17 students preparing for the exams in the second semester of the 2022-2023 academic year. The study group was determined through maximum diversity sampling, including 8 students preparing for LGS and 9 students preparing for YKS, who were interviewed. A semistructured interview form was used as the data collection tool to reveal the students' thoughts on private tutoring. Descriptive analysis will be applied to the obtained data. Based on the findings of the research, it is concluded that the primary reason for students seeking private tutoring is to address the deficiencies in their knowledge during the exam preparation process, stemming from inadequacies in school education.
