The N-heterocyclic carbene (NHC) ligands have attracted a lot of interest in the field of organic chemistry because of its
synthetic variability and the ability to adjust the steric and electronic properties. These ligands are known as unique ligands
for the synthesis of industrial catalysts. On the other hand, in recent years, numerous studies have been carried out on the
biological applications of NHC ligands and their metal complexes. In the last few decades, studies on antimicrobial and
anticancer properties of NHC-metal complexes have been reported. In addition, recently enzyme inhibition studies of NHC
ligands such as imidazole, benzimidazole, and imidazolidine have been conducted. NHC ligands have been demonstrated to
be highly active in enzyme inhibition studies [1-5].
