Effects of preparation pressure on the magnetic and I-V properties of nano Cu particles added MgB2 tapes

Abstract

MgB2 + 10% Cu added tapes have been fabricated by powder-in-tube (PIT) method under various preparation pressures. The effects of pressure and nano size Cu particles on the electrical, magnetic and I-V properties of the tapes were investigated. We found an improvement on the magnetic properties of the added tapes compared with the pure MgB2 tapes at high preparation pressures. The critical current density of the added tapes improved similar to 13%. However, the T-c and T-o of the added tapes were decreased to 33.9 and 30.1 K, respectively. (c) 2007 Elsevier B.V.
