Here, we apply bibliometric analysis and geosite assessment models from the
literature. The aim was to compare the two most frequently cited models, con-
sidering their strengths and weaknesses and the contexts in which they are most
effective. We also considered diversity and interdisciplinary approaches in the
applications of the models, and especially their validity in different geographi-
cal environments and their scale dependencies. The findings reveal that a single
model may not be sufficient in all circumstances, and it is important to adapt
model-specific criteria to field conditions.
