Various hetero-aromatic compounds have been investigated for a long time due to their many medical and industrial
applications [1]. N-heterocyclic carbenes (NHCs) are among the most important of these hetero-aromatic compound classes.
Öfele, Wanzlick, and Schönherr first discovered NHCs in 1968 [2]. Öfele et al. established several important features of the
NHC chemistry [3] before Arduengo opened access to free, isolable NHC in 1991 [4]. These molecules, on the other hand, are
indispensable and omnipresent in various research areas and nowadays it is not thinkable to improve these scientific fields
(e.g. transition metal and main group element chemistry) without considering the countless available NHCs [5]. This work contains the synthesis and characterization of the imidazolium salts containing phenolic group 1a-f. These salts
have been synthesized from 4-(1-H-imidazol-1-yl)phenol and various alkyl chloride at 80 °C over 24 h. All imidazolium salts
were characterized by using 1H NMR, 13C NMR, FTIR spectroscopy, and elemental analysis techniques.
