NECMETTİN ERBAKAN ÜNİVERSİTESİ ULUSLARARASI DİŞ HEKİMLİĞİ KONGRES, 2 - 03 Ekim 2021, ss.268, (Özet Bildiri)
Aım: In this case report, restoration of immature permanent central teeth and revascularization treatment appliedto tooth
number 21 are presented.
Case Report: A systemically healthy 9.5-year-old boy in mixed dentition applied to the Department of
Pedodontics, Faculty of Dentistry, İnönü University after trauma. In the anamnesis taken from the patient's parent, it was
learned that he fell off the bicycle one week ago. Clinical examination revealed uncomplicated enamel- dentin fracture in
incisor number 11, and complicated enamel-dentin fracture in incisor number 21. Sincethe apex of the patient's tooth
number 21 was open, revascularization treatment was planned with MTA. Without filing, the root canal was extirpated
and calcium hydroxide was kept for 2 weeks. After 2 weeks, without applying local anesthesia to the tooth; After
irrigation with sodium hypochlorite, saline and EDTA, bleeding was achieved at the root tip with a sterile canal file. 3 mm
MTA was placed in the root canal entrance. The patient was advised to follow a soft diet and not to bite with the anterior
teeth. After 1 week, restorations were performed with total-etch composite resin systems on teeth 11 and 21 as
superstructure. Radiographic and clinical controls of the patient were performed for 6 weeks, 3 months and 6 months.
Conclusion: Apexification therapy with calcium hydroxide in young permanent teeth with open apex has been replaced
by revascularization treatment today, as it increases root fragility and the treatment period is very long. Dentists should be
aware of this treatment and be educated about this current treatment.
