Özet

The most misunderstood and misevaluated side of the Third Cinema is the idea that it is a cinema belonging to third world countries due to its name. However, although the Third Cinema has emerged in third world countries, it covers more than a geographical concept. In this sense, political films released from different countries over time also support this idea. Even it is possible to find traces of the Third Cinema even in a Hollywood blockbuster. Black Panther, one of the Hollywood superhero films that have achieved great success at the box office, is a good example of this. The development of the story in the film about imaginary third world country, the reference to minority rights and the political subtext show that the film has an ideologically rich content. Considering the political situation of United States at that time and the discrimination policies implemented by the Trump administration, the ideological texts in the film make even more sense. Therefore, in this study, the Black Panther film will be analyzed by the method of ideological criticism. With the preconception that the Hollywood film industry is not independent of the current political environment of America, the political references in the film will be carefully analyzed to determine their connections to the present. The study will also try to show how the patterns of the Third Cinema find their place in the Mainstream Cinema. In this way, it is aimed to destroy the geographical prejudices developed against the Third Cinema.
