Introduction: Enamel dentin fractures, which are very common in children, can cause loss of function, pain, and aesthetic anxiety. If early treatment
is not provided, loss of pulp vitality and periapical lesions may develop. According to the stage of tooth development of the child, the treatment of
symptomatic uncomplicated crown fractures varies. The aim of this case report is to present the complicated treatment of symptomatic enamel
dentin fractured maxillary central incisors with root resorption.
Case: A 9-year-old systemically healthy boy was admitted to İnönü University, Faculty of Dentistry, Department of Pedodontics with complaints
of pain and swelling on his face. In the anamnesis taken from the patient, it was learned that he had experienced a traumatic dental injury three
months ago. During the clinical examination, enamel dentin fracture was detected in the maxillary central incisors. The teeth had no reaction with
cold test. A periapical lesion in tooth number 21 and an enlargement of the lamina dura in the periapical region of tooth number 11 were detected
in radiographic examination. Apical resorption was noticed in both teeth which had started root canal treatment. Both teeth, which had sufficient
root length, were plugged with MTA. Then, the traditional root canal treatment was completed with gutta-percha. The treatment of the teeth restored
with composite was completed.
Conclusions: Early treatment of uncomplicated crown fractures may be more conservative. However, if it is late for treatment, the prognosis of the
tooth is badly affected and the treatment stages become complicated.
