Being a Guide Teacher in Information Technologies: Expectations and Professional Roles

Özet

The purpose of this study is to investigate the expectations of school administrators, branch teachers and students from the information Technologies (IT) guide teachers working in primary and secondary schools. Study group of the study, which was designed using the phenomenological study pattern from among qualitative research approaches, consisted of school administrators, branch teachers working in the Elazig and students studying in these schools province in the school year of 2015-2016 and 5 school managers, 10 teachers from other branches other than IT and 6 students studying in these schools with purposeful sampling method among the students studying in these schools. Semi-structured interview form that was developed to collect data was applied face to face with participants with sound recording. Content analysis was made on the data obtained from the study. As a result of the study, it was found that expectations of school managers from IT guide teachers gathered under three themes; extracurricular, information technologies and software course and integration of IT into courses; expectations of other branch teachers gathered under two themes; expectations in their branch courses and extracurricular expectations; and expectations of students gathered under two themes; classroom and extracurricular expectations.
