Özet

Amaç: Maksiller sinüs ile ağız arasında oluşan oroantral açıklık kanser cerrahisi, travma ve konjenital sebeplerle oluşabilir. Bunun

sonucunda yutkunma, konuşma, beslenme problemleri oluşur ve kişinin psikososyal bütünlüğünü bozulur. Bu vaka raporunda

kanser cerrahisi nedeniyle maksiller sinüs defekti bulunan bir hastanın protetik rehabilitasyonu anlatılmaktadır.

Olgu: 62 yaşında erkek hasta maksiller sinüste bulunan açıklık şikayetiyle İnönü Üniversitesi Diş Hekimliği Fakültesi Protetik Diş

Tedavisi Anabilim Dalı'na başvurdu. Klinik ve radyolojik değerIendirme sonrasında hasta yapılacak tedaviyle ilgili bilgilendirildi.

İntraoral muayenede üst çene sol tarafta geniş bir oroantral defekt ve ilgili bölgede dişlerin eksikliği gözlendi. Hasta konforu için

defekt bölgesi ölçüden önce spanç ile kapatıldı. Protezi destekleme amacıyla üst çenede 23-24-15-16 nolu dişler prepare edildi

ve metal destekli kronla restore edildi. Klasik prosedürlerle obtürarör yapıldı. 6 aylık kontrolde herhangi bir problem gözlenmedi.

Sonuç: Yapılan protetik rehabilitasyon sonucunda, hastanın kaybedilmiş fonksiyon ve fonasyonu sağlandı. Bu eksikliklere bağlı

oluşan psikososyal sorunlar giderildi.

Protetic Rehabilitation of Patient with Maxillary Sinus Defect: Case Report

Aim: The oroantral opening between the maxillary sinus and the mouth can be caused by cancer surgery, trauma and conge-

nital reasons. As a result, swallowing, speaking, feeding problems occur and the psychosocial integrity of the person deterio-

rates. This case report describes the prosthetic rehabilitation of a patient with a maxillary sinus defect due to cancer surgery.

Case: A 62-year-old male patient was applied the İnönü University, Faculty of Dentistry, Department of Prosthodontics for com-

plaints of openness in the maxillary sinus. After clinical and radiological evaluation, the patient was informed about the treat-

ment. Intraoral examination showed a large oroantral defect on the left upper jaw and lack of teeth in the related region. For

the patient's comfort the defect area was closed with a gauze before the measurement. in order to support the prosthesis,

teeth 23-24-15-16 were prepared in the upper jaw and restored with metal-supported crown. Obturator was performed by

classical procedures. There was no problem in 6-month control.

Conclusion: As a result of the prosthetic rehabilitation, the patient's lost function and phonation was restored. The psychoso-

cial problems related to these deficiencies were eliminated.
