Özet:

Purpose of this research is to reveal the impact of cooperative learning method over students academic success and attitudes toward maths on fourth grade math classes. Research is conducted by using "pretest-posttest design control group experiment pattern". One of the cooperative learning application, "Team Game Tournament supported with Student Teams and Achievement Sections" (TGT Supported with STAS), which is a combination of "Team Game Tournament" (TGT) and "Student Teams and Achievement Sections" (STAS), is applied to experiment group in the research. In control group, lessons are performed in the guidance of MEB "4. Grade Math Teacher Handbook". Research is conducted with the primary school students of Malatya Batalgazi district during 2015-2016 academic year. 20 students in experiment group and 20 students in control group, 40 students in total have taken part. "Mathematics Achievement Test" and "Mathematics Attitude Scale" are applied experiment and control groups as pretest and posttest. Besides, following the application, opinions gathered from experiment group by using "Cooperative Learning Assessment Survey". Outcomes are descriptively presented with arithmetic average and standard deviation. "t test for independent sample groups" is used for analysing achievement and attitude difference scores collected by pretest-posttest in groups. The data collected with Cooperative Learning Assessment Survey is interpreted according to frequency and percentage. As a result, it is concluded that TGT Supported with STAS technique is more effective in increasing students` success in mathematics classes, however, not more effective in mathematics attitude in comparison to traditional methods. Cooperative learning has not cause a significant difference from a gender point of view in male and female students` academic achievements and attitudes in mathematics classes. Majority of the students in experiment group have declared positive opinion about collaborative learning.
