Introduction and Objective: In this case report, the treatment of the upper right lateral tooth
crossbite with the removable appliance is presented.
Case Report: 9-year-old, systemically healthy female patient in mixed dentition, applied to
İnönü University Faculty of Dentistry, Department of Pediatric Dentistry with the complaint of
the appearance of the upper right lateral tooth. In the clinical examination, crossbite in the upper
right lateral incisor(12) was determined. A removable acrylic appliance was designed with bite
plane, vestibule arch, retainer adams clasps, and a labiolingual spring in the palatine of the
upper right lateral incisor. The patient was followed at 2-week intervals. The ideal relationship
of the upper right lateral incisor was provided after 1.5 months. The patient was followed up
during the transition from mixed tooth to permanent tooth.
Conclusion: In this presented case, simple anterior crossbite was treated with a modified
removable appliance during mixed dentition. Pediatric dentists should be aware of the situation
and take early precautions with simple moving appliances to prevent patients from becoming a
fixed orthodontic patient in the future.
