On dokuzuncu yüzyıldaki yoğun edebî ve belaği tartışmaların merkezinde Ahmed Cevdet Paşa’nın Belâgat-ı Osmâniyye isimli eseri vardır. Buna karşı ilk itiraz Talîkât-ı Belâgat-ı Osmâniyye isimli eserle Abdurrahman Süreyya’dan gelmiştir. Hacı İbrahim Efendi ise Temyîz-i Talîkât’ta Ahmed Cevdet Paşa’yı ve eserini savunarak Talîkât’ta dile getirilen itirazların bir kısmını tenkit etmiş ve uzun süre devam edecek olan farklı tartışmaların da başlamasına sebep olmuştur. Talîkât ve Temyîz arasındaki tartışmalar genelde kelime seçimleri, bazı kelimelerin yanlış anlamda kullanılması, fesahat ile ilgili konuların tarifi, seçilen örnek şiirlerin doğruluğu veya anlamı etrafında gerçekleşmektedir. Bu çalışmada Temyîz-i Talîkât’ın muhtevası ve tartışma konuları çeşitli açılardan detaylı bir şekilde ele alınıp tahlil edilmiş, tarafların argümanları ayrıntılarıyla serimlenip tartışılmış ve bazı notlarla beraber eserin çevriyazılı metni sunulmuştur.
Ahmed Cevdet Pasha's work named Belâgat-ı Osmâniyye is at the center of the intense literary-arguments and rhetorical discussions in the nineteenth century. The first objection against this came from Abdurrahman Süreyyâ with his work named Ta'lîkât-ı Belâgat-ı Osmâniyye. Hacı İbrâhim Efendi, on the other hand, defended Ahmed Cevdet Pasha and his work in Temyîz-i Ta'lîkât and criticized some of the objections expressed in Ta'lîkât and caused different discussions that would continue for a long time. The discussions between Ta'lîkât and Temyîz generally take place around the choice of words, the misuse of some words, the description of the issues related to the eloquence, the accuracy or meaning of the sample poems chosen. In this study, the content and discussion issues of the Temyîz-i Ta'lîkât were examined and analyzed in detail from various angles, the arguments of the parties were explained and discussed in detail, and the transliterated text of the work was presented with some notes.
