Özet

The aim of this study is to reveal the tendency of the counselor candidates to help according to the person-situation approach. The participants of the study are undergraduate students who continue their education (1st year, 2nd year, 3rd year and 4th year) in the guidance and psychological counseling program of a public university. In this study, criterion sampling method, one of the purposeful sampling types, was used. The study group of the research consists of a total of 375 students, 269 (71.7%) girls and 106 (28.3%) boys. Aid Orientation Scale developed by Romer, Gruder and Lizzadro (1986) and adapted into Turkish by Duru (2002) was used to collect research data. In the study, t test and ANOVA method were used to determine whether the helping tendencies of the counselor candidates vary according to gender and grade level. The findings of the study show that the tendency of PDR students to help according to the person-situation approach does not change according to the grade level variable, but varies according to the variable of gender (only selfishness subscale).
