Abstract

We describe the first case of isosporiasis in a liver transplant patient. Watery diarrhea due to Isospora belli was observed in a woman who had undergone liver transplantation 8 months prior. She was successfully treated with trimethoprim-sulfamethoxazole. This parasite should be taken into consideration as an opportunistic infection in transplant patients who need increased hygenic awareness.
