Power is ubiquitous, present in every social interaction between individuals, groups and global actors, and is an important area of study within the many topics covered by political sociology. If we start from the idea that politics is “the generalized process by which power struggles in society are resolved”, we can understand that power is initially at the heart of the work of political sociologists. The aim is to explain the links between social interactions between individuals, social structures in society, and social processes that are changed by the struggle between or within individuals or groups and the solutions produced. This paper will examine the theories that explain the phenomenon of power, starting from the classical period and including modern and postmodern theories. The concept of power, which was initially dealt with in the context of ruler and ruled relations in the context of the state, has begun to discuss the ubiquity of power based on the views of Michel Foucault.
