Özet:
Purpose:
Previous
studies have indicated that cephalometric changes may occur in patients with
chronic sinusitis and septum deviation. In this study, it was aimed to
determine how the cephalometric measurements of healthy individuals to be used
as chronic sinusitis, septum deviation and control group will change with CT
measurements.
Material
and Method: The study was carried out in Department
of Anatomy and the Radiology Department of İnönü University Turgut Özal Medical
Center Training and Research Hospital. Our study was evaluated retrospectively
using paranasal computed tomography images taken from a total of 153 patients
(77 females, 76 males) aged between 20 and 51 years. The evaluation was made
using the Sectra program. Volume measurements were made using Myrian software,
a special volume measurement program. A total of 15 cephalometric parameters
were evaluated on each CT image included in the study. The compliance of the
data to normal distribution was examined with the Kolmogorov Smirnov test. The
Kruskall Wallis H test was applied to the data to compare the same age groups
of patients with chronic sinusitis, septum deviation and the control group. Mann
Whitney U test was applied to the data to compare patients within the same
group.
Results:
When
we compare male and female patients with chronic sinusitis, according to the
analysis result, Sna-EgT Snp-EgT, Sna-H, Snp-H, SMVÇ-R, MSM parameters; When we
compare male and female patients with septum deviation, according to the
analysis result, Sna-Snp, Sna-EgT, Snp-EgT, Sna-H, Snp-H, SMH-R SMH-L SMVÇ-R,
SMTÇ-L, SMVÇ-L parameters and control when we compared the men and women in the
group, it was found that there was a significant difference in the parameters
Sna-EgT, Snp-EgT, Sna-H, Snp-H according to the analysis result (p
<0.05).When we compared the three men between the ages of 20-35 and between
the ages of 36-51 in the chronic sinusitis, septum deviation and control group,
a significant difference was found in the MPA-R parameter in men aged 20-35 (p
<0.05). Significant differences were found in SMH-L, SMTD-L, SMVD-L, MPA-R
parameters in men aged 36-51 years (p <0.05). When we compared the three
women between the ages of 20-35 and between the ages of 36-51 in the chronic
sinusitis, septum deviation and control group, a significant difference was
found in the SMVD-L parameter in women aged 36-51 (p <0.05).
Conclusion:
In
this study, we think that cephalometric measurement results obtained from
patients with chronic sinusitis and septum deviation may contribute to
physicians in anatomical and morphological evaluations in diagnosis, treatment
and surgical operations.
